New and Noteworthy Resources for Fraud Week, November 17-23

Join the global effort to minimize the impact of fraud by promoting anti-fraud awareness and education

International Fraud Awareness Week is almost here. It officially begins on Sunday, November 17. Right now, we have nearly 550 supporters from around the world, and new supporters are signing up every day. This is gearing up to be the biggest Fraud Week ever!

One of the most critical aspects of Fraud Week is the knowledge sharing that happens throughout the week. Fraud Week is the perfect opportunity for you to reach out to friends, colleagues and family to educate them about the impact of fraud and what you do as an anti-fraud professional.

In order to help you in these efforts, we have some new and noteworthy resources for Fraud Week supporters this year.

VIDEO: Common computer and internet fraud schemes

Technology is a constant factor in almost everyone’s life, and as technology advances, fraudsters figure out how to exploit it for their gain. One of the most insidious ways fraudsters get access to computers and systems is through social engineering. This new video explains some of the most common computer and internet fraud schemes. This is great for a quick share on social media or to show to friends and family.

PRINTABLE: Fraud prevention checklist

One thing you can do during this year’s Fraud Week is take a look at the current fraud prevention plan you or your organization has in place to evaluate its effectiveness. If you don’t have an existing one, make a point to establish one and discuss its importance with stakeholders in your organization. We’ve created a downloadable checklist that you can easily print out and hang up in your office.

REPORT: Anti-Fraud Technology Benchmarking Report

This year, the ACFE conducted a benchmarking study in partnership with SAS to help organizations understand what anti-fraud technologies their peers are using and to assist in guiding future adoption of anti-fraud technologies. The information contained in the report can help you and your organization figure out where you currently stand in the anti-fraud technology landscape and can also help you garner executive buy-in when it’s time to invest in technology for your organization.

REPORT: In-House Fraud Investigation Teams: 2019 Benchmarking Report

The ACFE’s newest report, published only a few weeks ago, highlights data from ACFE members who work as a part of in-house teams performing fraud investigations for their employing organizations. To generate the report, we surveyed ACFE members regarding the performance, structure and operations of their organizations’ internal fraud investigation teams. This report can be used to compare your investigation team with teams at other organizations of a similar size or in the same industry. It can also help improve your team’s processes and allocation of resources.
