International Fraud Awareness Week 2020 is coming to a close, and we at the ACFE want to thank everyone who signed up as an official supporter. It’s the 20th anniversary of Fraud Week, and we had a record amount of organizations sign up to be official supporters this year.

Even though most people weren’t able to hold in-person events, there were so many creative virtual events put on by supporters this year. ACFE local chapters especially stepped up and organized a multitude of virtual trainings, webinars and activities. These include:

  • The ACFE Egypt and Jordan Chapters, along with Oversight Consulting & Training, put on a webinar discussing ethics.

  • The ACFE Greece Chapter held a virtual anti-fraud tech fair featuring remarks from Christos Staikouras, the minister of finance for Greece.

  • The ACFE NYC Chapter and the NYC Elder Abuse Center held a webinar on identifying and reporting elder financial exploitation.

  • The ACFE Belgium Chapter, with KPMG, held a webinar discussing global anti-money laundering (AML) trends, how technology can help with some of today’s AML challenges and how to prepare for a sustainable future.

  • The ACFE Lebanon Chapter aired new podcasts each day of the week on topics like romance scams, phishing, fake charities and more.

  • The ACFE Ireland Chapter hosted webinars on defining and responding to fraud risks during COVID-19 and corporate culture.

  • The ACFE Turkey Chapter led a webinar with Turkish Ethics and Reputation Society about how to best raise awareness of bribery, corruption and fraud.

  • The ACFE Mumbai Chapter and EY Forensic & Integrity Services held four virtual sessions about emerging trends to mitigate fraud, measures taken by various companies and related topics.

  • The ACFE Serbia Chapter, along with Deloitte Serbia, hosted a 3-day virtual conference where they discussed novelties in EU regulation on AML, common cybercrime schemes, the anti-corruption landscape, whistleblowing and careers in forensics.

  • The ACFE Indonesia Chapter held a two-day anti-fraud conference.

  • The ACFE Samoa Chapter created and shared a video highlighting the importance of fraud prevention and awareness.

You can see more about the events hosted by ACFE chapters and many other supporting organizations on the Fraud Week events page or by searching for the tag #FraudWeek on social media platforms. You can also find all the new resources that are free to use, share and download on the resources page.

Thank you again to all the organizations that supported Fraud Week this year and we’re looking forward to spreading more fraud awareness for International Fraud Awareness Week 2021, November 14-20!
